Domain verification

Prove you control a domain

Verification is separate from monitoring: anyone may watch a domain, only its operator can claim it. A claim puts a verified badge on the public evidence page.

Nothing is published until the record is live and we have read it.

How it works

  1. 1

    Name your organisation

This appears beside the badge on the public evidence page, so write it as people know it.

  2. 2

    Publish one TXT record

At _whois.yourdomain.com, with a value only you are given. Anyone can read it; only your DNS operator can publish it.

  3. 3

    We check, then keep checking

Every 10 minutes until it appears, then on every scheduled check. The badge disappears if the record does.

Verifying also lets us tell you how to allow our website check through your firewall, which is what makes page-change monitoring work.
